Neighbor was throwing away what looks a bitcoin mining setup? Pulled a free core i3-7100 out of it! Does anyone know if the motherboard or those small pci-e boards are worth anything? I can post closer-up pics if needed
I recently bought an antminer s9 that I would like to get up and running. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to connect it to my mobile hotspot. Has anyone done this before? Should I use a router or a wireless Ethernet bridge? I bought 2 different routers now thinking that if I connected the miner to the router it could connect to the hotspot. But not only can you not wirelessly bridge devices, I can’t configure the router without an Ethernet internet connection, and my hotspot has not Ethernet jack. If someone could please help me out of this conundrum that’d be fantastic.

I am having trouble setting up bitcoin mining on my computer. I know CPU/GPU minning is dead because it costs more to mine than I'll make, but I just want to set it up to mess around with mining and see what its all about. I currently have GIMPS working in the background of my PC for the heck of it and to help with something. I think 0xD153A53's comment brings some interesting alternative's into thought. Do any redditors know of other worthwhile causes out there to contribute spare computing power to? again, for the lazy: GIMPS is an acronym for the Great Internet Mersienne Prime Search which search for Mersienne Prime numbers, which are numbers 1 less than a base 2 number. e.g. 3 ((22)-1) and 7 ((23)-1). They are much bigger now and require lots of processing power.

Anyone else out there using mountain Lion? If this helps, I installed the latest bitcoin which is called bitcoin QT. The docs I have for mining setup dictate to edit the bit coin.conf file and add "echo "rpcuser=username" > ~/Library/Application\ Support/Bitcoin/bitcoin.conf echo "rpcpassword=password" >> ~/Library/Application\ Support/Bitcoin/bitcoin.conf" There was not a bit coin.conf file, so I created it and added the two requisite lines above. Still get the error "abi.dylib: terminate called throwing an exception" and bit coin crashes. Any help out there? Thank you.. CW
I'm thinking about buying a 20.5 th/s bitcoin mining setup for 7,000$ Canadian. 1 bitcoin is 371$ Canadian. I project around 1,600$ monthly profit at current difficulty, current power price in my local area, and current value. Is this a safe assumption? I understand the value is quote volatile but I personally see the value going up. Is the difficulty going to rise exponentially to the point of little to no profit? Hello guys, after a ten day vacation i returned back home excited to play games again. Before my vacation i found out about need for speed heat, and found my love for modded skyrim again! Sadly, that excitement didn't last long. NFS won't even start up the actual game; it will load until a loading screen occurs and then just black screens my computer. My computer will definitely still be on but my monitor goes into power saving mode and nothing responds. Same thing happened with skyrim and i had to disable performance heavy mods which solved that problem. I thought downloading new AMD drivers would maybe solve the problem, nfs heat actually got to the start up screen this time but once again crashed in loading screens. I know its probably very obvious, but does it sound like my hardware is at fault? These two games were definitely both running perfectly before my vacation, both on ultra high graphics settings. My gpu (radeon rx 570 series) has been used in a bitcoin mining setup by the previous owner, and i'm scared it might be starting to die now. Just want to know for sure if it sounds like that's at fault before i decide to buy a new graphics card.
